Second Article

http://adage.com/article/special-report-americas-hottest-brands/america-s-hottest-brands-dc-comics/231168/

This is the link to the second article I read on DC comics. And let me tell ya, I liked what I saw. In this passage they're saying that with the explained pasts of heroes like Superman, Batman, Green Lantern ,and even Aquaman have a lot of classic times under their belt, or capes. So, with the growing ideas of today's producers it's hard for them to go crazy with tons of new ideas when they have such detailed history already built into these characters. So, basically what they're plan is to relaunch the DC characters so they can better fit current story lines, or in other words just making them a little more flexible.
I personally like this idea. I like the fact that they can rewrite the story line but keeping the essentials. Take Batman's story for example, when he was with his parents in that dark alley where they were killed and that's when Bruce Wayne was on the verge on becoming Batman. Now, the original story has it that his parents brought him to the movies to see the showing of Zorro. Little Bruce got scared of all the action that was going on so his parents decided to leave and took the back door so that they won't get in anyone's way. This back door lead to the dark alley where they came face to face with a burglar who wanted Martha Wayne's pear necklace. With her Husband protecting her he shot both of them, leaving Bruce alive. Other animated series like "Batman The Brave and The Bold" has a totally different story. It all happened during Christmas day when Bruce was totally excited thinking that his parents would give him the new action figure that all the kids dreamed of having. He was disappointed in his parents when he opened the gift and there was his father's nut cracker that was passed down from generation to generation. And of course Bruce didn't approve of it. Lucky enough he has loving and caring parents they brought him to the movies to try and make up for it. Bruce wasn't enjoying the movie either so they decided to slip away into the back entrance into a dark alley. And that's when the burglar came in and killed his parents. Leaving Bruce feeling guilty that he didn't appreciate what his parents have done for him.

A Not So Christmas Story

In the book, "Naked Pictures of Famous People" by Jon Stewart I came across a little story called, " A Very Hanson Christmas 1996-1999". This little story is about  Eileen Hanson's family during the holidays. Eileen is a very down to earth kind of woman. She believes in God 100% of the way and thinks that her family should be great-full for everything that God has done to bless them with for all they have. So, when Christmas time came rolling in she had big plans for her family to take part in. She had her children perform a skit with them pretending to be pilgrims, so they had to grow their own fruits and vegetables. Keep in mind that there were no gifts exchanged. Her husband, Gary and children, Zach, Taylor, and Isaac don't exactly choose to do these types of activities but would rather not fight against their mother/wife. I can relate to the children and the husband, even on Easter my grandmother would force my little sister and I to go to church with her on Sunday morning. And I rarely go to church, if I had to estimate how many times I go to church each year it would probably be around 10 at most. Anyway, these people will be significant in the story because they give off a sense of conflict with Eileen's ideas.
The point of view in this story is very important. In the story Eileen is the narrator so it's everything is through her eyes and how she feels about her family's actions but is not int he action herself. She notices that every is kind of splurging on themselves. It starts off as a little hair cut that Gary got for himself, and then it jumped to Zach going to strip clubs and contracting Herpes. Everything started to spiral out of control when Eileen found out that Taylor was engaging in sexual activities with some girl named Naomi Campbell. she hated hearing about this and said "I miss my angels" she couldn't believe that her own flesh and blood would do such unholy things and she tries to stay strong by standing her ground and keeping her morals. But even the sweet Eileen is losing herself by wanting to kill her husband without a second thought saying "I could fucking kill Gary with my bare hands and not blink." because she believes that he is cheating on her It's as if she's frustrated that their isn't any God within her family.
The plot in this story is that Eileen wanted to have a holy family that appreciates life and doesn't take anything for grand-it. Once I see that her children are going off the wall with their actions I can tell that things are going to go downhill from there. I anticipated for everyone else in the family to completely splurge on themselves and do the complete opposite on what their mother Eileen would  make them do. I could see the story going to a point where Eileen would completely give in as the story showed in the end of the story she wrote a letter, and at the end of the letter she had written, "Merry Fucking Christmas, God is dead, Eileen Hanson." At the end her belief in God was demolished.

Blogs I Follow

http://www.dccomics.com/blog

http://bmwwarchive.blogspot.com/

The first link basically shows a collage of blogs on different topics within the DC universe. It also shows updates on comic books, authors, and cover pages. A recommended home for DC fan such as myself.

The second link is a single blog about Batman and Wonder Woman. It contains the latest Batman t.v. shows and shows some interesting comic strips of Wonder Woman. And of course there is some fan-fiction for you of these two heroes being a couple. I personally think that should be together as well. It would be one hell of a wedding with Bruce's money in abundance.

New Logo!

Recently, I've come across an interesting piece on the updated DC logo. This logo on top is the old logo for DC comics that the company have been using since 2005. As you can see this pretty much looks like a basic, simple, and static like symbol to represent the comics as a whole.

The second logo is the newest one. Anyone who isn't into DC comics comics in general won't understand this logo. Most likely they'll think "What's the difference? the other one is totally better." But, what they don't realize is that this logo doesn't have that bland, basic, and static look to it. the people with DC comics brought this out to show variety, if you don't believe me just take a look down below.
There is so much you can do with the new and improved DC logo. Here on the left, it's clear that within the logo you can see The Joker from the Batman comics from the "C" part of the symbol. On the right side you see a variety of colors and affects you can do with the new logo. This way, the logo can finally represent the individual hero's and villains of the DC universe. It's a way to finally put some personality into it and capturing the powers and background of the characters. Like how the top left one would represent Superman, the man of steel because the C looks like it's made out of steel. The bottom right one is obviously Green Lantern because of the green glowing and the bottom middle one is Batman because it looks like the foggy parts of Gotham.

DC Comics

I was just allowed by my English teacher that I can produce a blog post about something that I like. And that certain thing that I like is DC Comics. I've loved DC Comics since I was a little kid and I see myself still following it until the day I die. Now, Don't get me wrong I like Marvel as well but the superheros that really hit home to me was Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Starfire, Cat woman, and whole lot of other ones that I don't get tired of. I feel as if this the only subject that I know about and willing to find out more with research.

Future Text

Tomorrow I'm going to write about the story "Sweetheart of The Song Tra Bong" from the book "The Things They Carried". The theme that I see in this story is how just the environment in being in the war with Vietnam can change someone. Even to a point of no return. The elements that helps develop the theme is the author's point of view and the characters. The characters will play a big part because there is a big argument on what happens to Mary Ann and Fossie based off of gender.
